College Colors Day

The other Friday was wear your college colors day. We had some blue and grey shirts for the girls to proudly wear. It was tough getting them to smile at the camera at the same time. The stuffed owls provided a good distraction. We're ready for a great athletic season. Go Owls!

First Day Tea Party

Tuddie happened to be in town for the first day of school. She promised Emily a tea party after nap time. It was such a fancy time. We had "tea", cookies, petit fours, strawberries and great company. Emily allowed boys to come to the tea party, but that was only Granddaddy and Daddy. Freddie was very interested in all the treats. It took us a while to come down from our sugar high. Thanks for a sweet memory!

First Day of Day School 2011

We had a great first day of day school. We were a little worried about Freddie starting her sibling class. She goes one day a week. We were certain she would bawl her eyes out being left with complete strangers. Fortunately, she didn't even shed a tear. She walked into the classroom like she owned the place. The teacher said she was the happiest one there that day. Emily was ready for school to start back in June. She loves seeing her friends. She loves her new teacher. The girls' classrooms are right next to each other so they can say hello every so often. Anna said Freddie cried the second week of school, but it didn't last long. Now when you ask her if she goes to school she says "toys" really loudly. She thinks it is her own little playground.

South Carolina

We apologize for the ton of pictures. This is going to be a long one. We had so much fun in South Carolina we couldn't leave anything out. Emily wanted them all included. We went to Charleston for the first part of the vacation with the Carters. We had a really wonderful time. They sure know how to show us some southern hospitality. We had fun on the beach, playing at the house and visiting plantations. We are very thankful they invited us. It was tons of fun. Here we go...

Plane rides were pretty easy thanks to the iPad and movies.

We had to enjoy the back porch first thing!

THC was a crowd pleaser with his hammock skills.

GHC and Emily braved the wild ocean

Family photo complete with shirtless THC

Started the first day just taking in the ocean and beach

There were doodle castles to be built.

Emily practiced jumping over waves

And she cleared a few

One evening we were treated to a lovely boat ride with friends (the kids chose the trash can as their backdrop)

Freddie was ready for action. Emily was in search of dolphins.

Mommy had to get in some cuddles

The next day we took off to see Drayton Hall.

The girls appreciated the old time potty.

Emily had to use the map to guide us around.

We missed the tour inside, but the grounds were pretty.

Then we met up with GHC to check out Middleton plantation.

GHC made a lovely tour guide.

The only family photo of the vacation. Good thing we were sweaty and smelly.

There were a few bugs.

Luckily we ended the day going to Daniel Island for some awesome pool time, food and fun. Even Freddie went down this monstrous slide. Thanks again to the Baileys for such a good time.

At the cabin Teensy was handy to have for a good laugh.

THC was handy for some hair braiding. Emily did not want to take this braid out for bath time that evening.

Alas, it was time to head out. We were off to Hilton Head for a few nights. The girls had to give hugs and kisses goodbye.

There weren't many pics at Hilton Head because most of the time was spent on the beach...

or the pool.

The girls loved it all!

Our final night we headed back to Charleston for the day. Unfortunately many places closed up early in anticipation of Hurricane Irene. We didn't see much rain, and woke up to blue skies the next morning. We had a really great vacation. Thanks to all of our hosts. We give South Carolina a big thumbs up!
