Emily had her first school field trip. When you are two, the field trip consists of going somewhere on school grounds. So, the two's classes took a trip to see the Pastor of the church. He can sing songs and play the guitar. That is a hit with 2 year olds. Well, he also has another trick. He can play the guitar while doing a headstand. The kids thought that was a hoot....the first time. Apparently, one of the teachers asked him to do it again. When he turned upside down for the second time his face turned red. Emily was right in front of him. Since she is so tender hearted, she got scared because he was so flushed. She burst into tears. Luckily, the TA was quick to carry her off to the classroom. Of course, when she told me the story it was a little more confusing. We clarified with the teacher via email. We busted out laughing once we heard the real story!

Play Time is Over

Well, maternity leave is officially over. What a bummer! It is hard to imagine being away from my girls for so long, but I know they are in good hands. The coming home snuggles will be great. Here is an Ode to the end of maternity leave by JRK. It was a much appreciated email.
Mama V is sadly back at work...
thinking the Man is one BIG JERK!
For taking her away from her two sweetie pies
On maternity leave time flies!!!!
Luckily it's Christmas time so hopefully work will be slow
and I promise you won't miss seeing Freddie grow
And when you get home, an explosion of smiles and hugs
From your two adorable little snuggle bugs!

Cold Week

This week we accomplished a lot of holiday fun. First, we made Advent wreaths at church. Emily had a lot of fun pushing the pins into the styrofoam. Of course, now every time she sees a wreath, she calls it an Advent. Later in the week we headed out to get our Christmas tree. It was mighty cold. Emily wanted the first one we saw. She enjoyed watching the guy trim the trunk and package it all up for us. Freddie preferred to stay in the carseat. On Friday, we had snow. Can you believe it? Emily and I headed out to the front yard to check out this white stuff falling from the sky. She didn't know what to think of it. That was the only time we went out because it was super cold and looked much prettier from inside the house. We also went to check out the lights in town later that evening. The girls were tuckered out from such a fun and wonderful week!

Look Alike

Mommy

Daddy
Emily
Freddie

Freddie
Emily has always looked like her Daddy. I knew it the first time I saw her. Everyone who comes up to us says she looks like her Daddy. This time we think Freddie looks more like her Mommy (in some opinion). It was hard to find a good picture to capture the resemblance, but you can sort of tell when you are around her. Of course, that makes her super cute;)
I am also certain that Freddie looks like Emily did when she was a baby. Everyone disagrees with me. Of course, it is hard to tell now that she is a blonde. Yet Emily had dark hair at the beginning too. Just not a lot of it!

Freddie in Crib
Freddie is now officially out of our room. It was a sad thing to see as a parent, but we know she and Emily will love sharing a room. Emily was excited to have her sister in her room. However, she didn't realize Freddie was in her crib the next morning. Emily was just more concerned that her door was open. Then she heard Freddie rumbling. It was really cute to see (on the video monitor) her shock and excitement! They are going to have a lot of hugs and fights in that room. That is for sure.

2 months

Freddie had her two month doc visit today. She handled it like a champ. Her stats looked good. Of course, she's blowing our previous chunky monkey out of the water. Her weight was at 12lbs10oz. Height was at 23.25 inches. She's developing very well. Our doc hadn't ever seen Freddie's capillary hemangioma on her lower back before today (we have had other docs see her because of schedules). Based on it's location, our doc wants to get an ultrasound to make sure it is hanging out only where it needs to be. That should be fun with an infant. We'll keep you posted on our "little" Freddie. Seems kids always find ways to worry us.
Oh yeah, I also said I would bank on Freddie teething already (lots of drool, Big D, etc). The doc kind of laughed at me as I expected. Then she felt Freddie's grill and said it was pretty firm. Momma wasn't completely crazy. We'll see when they come in...or don't.

Freddie's Baptism
We had a wonderful day on Sunday. Freddie was baptized. The service was really pretty. Freddie slept like a champ through all of it. We had so many lovely friends and family to share the day with us. We are one lucky family. Unfortunately, I didn't snap enough photos of all of Freddie's fans. Thank you so much to all of you for coming to share this special day with us.
